Mazda has been developing a whole new set of technology improvements under the name of SkyActive, due the increased efficiency and friendliness to the environment of the new developed parts.

One of this parts, is the new 6 speed automatic transmission, that seems to have all the benefits:

shift times fast as a manual Mx-5 tranny

7% increased fuel consumption and obviously less CO2 in the air

smoothness in city drive

lightweight design

The video below explains the new SkyActive technology and how this transmission is made of both a automatic torque converter and manual clutch. Probably it will be available for the next RX-8/RX-9 model to come in around 2013.

Mazda has presented a new concept car called TAKERI, and it seems to be the next concept CAR behind the future Mazda 6. This also reveals Mazda’s current trend in emotional design and probably the next RX-8 (or 9) will have a similiar design lines like the future 6.

Like the new Mazda CX-5 SUV (which was shown in Frankfurt this year but will make its Japanese debut at the Show), the TAKERI is based of Mazda’s new “KODO - Soul of Motion” design language - meaning that we’ll likely see styling elements of the TAKERI appear in production models down the track.

The appearance of Mazda’s first regenerative braking system is notable because this car isn’t a hybrid - it runs on a diesel engine. Like conventional hybrid systems, kinetic energy is captured and stored during braking, but in this case, rather than being fed back to an electric motor, the energy is stored in a capacitor and used to power the vehicle’s electric equipment. This reduces engine load and results in excellent fuel economy according to Mazda.

The package starts with an RX-8 RS and adds in exclusive badging, unique head- and taillights with black bezels and red brake calipers outside. Indoors, the cabin wears special Spirit R bucket seats hewn by the people at Recaro as well as piano black transmission tunnel trim.

This DIY shows how to replace the license lights.

For this operation you require these 2 tools:
- new 194 bulbs standard or LED
- Flat Head Screw Driver

This mode takes only 5 minutes to do. You need to take your flat head screw driver and position is on the end of the lens as shown in picture 1. You then need to pry it off gently. It should pop right out and make sure you catch it because it has a tendency to fly down. The bulb is then visible and you will want to put it out and replace it with you new bulb.

You can choose this type of lights (not LED): http://autolumination.com/194.htm scroll down the page until you see on the right side of the page 194 (Super White) Xeon. It’s about $1.50 each.
You can also use this type of lights to replace all the interior lights of your mazda RX-8.

You could also use a 3D setup like here:
http://www.rx8shop.com/index.php/113-Lights/204-Rx8-3rd-Brake-Light-Assembly/flypage.tpl

Enjoy your new rear license LED’s.
