I have a 2005 Mazda RX8. Started fine one day. Shut it off ran into the house for a second. Tried to start the car again, it wouldn’t start. Tried the flooded engine procedure. Would not start. I had a mechanic tell me once that he poured a little bit of transmission fluid into two small ports on the right side of the engine, I believe to help build up compression in the rotary cylinder. The car started fine after that, untll 2 days ago. Could I have apex seals on the rotor not performing properly? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

i love my rotary but i hate mazda. they couldn’t get a rat’s ass about their customers and good luck getting any help from them. their service centers lie and try to do everything possible to not address the recalls. im so sad that such a great car was built under such a shitty company.

It must be one of the sensors, probably the Lambda sensor in your exhaust.

I had a similar problem on a Honda, and it’s caused by the fuel pump cutting out when the engine is warm. Don’t know how this relates to the RX-8, but could possibly be the same thing?

Hi i have a 2005 rx8 AT with 50,000k . I would start up the car and then when i would drive not even a mile and stop at a red light or stop sign the car would just shut off on me. I tryed the starting procedure incase of flooding the engine and still nothing. After about 5 minutes of letting the car sit I tryed again and it would start up and i would rev the engine so possibly this wouldent happen again at that time .. I cleaned any signs of corrosion on the battery for a postiive connection but idk what else to do…PLEASE HELP
